You don't have to be a programmer to use Linux

A lot of people think you have to be a geek to use Linux. It isn’t so. It might have been true a few years ago, but it isn’t anymore. I was taking an IT course over the winter, and we had been assigned groups to partner with in some of the activities. I had been with my group for a while, and they all knew I used Linux.

Some of the labs we did together as a group were Linux related and others were Windows. Using Zoom I shared by desktop so they were able to see what I did in the terminal. A number of them asked, “Is that really Linux”?

The picture above is the Linux Kubuntu, which is an official flavour of the Ubuntu operating system.

As you can see, a Linux desktop can look quite attractive. It’s easy to move things around and add elements. It’s easy to use, and there is a ton of software that can be installed.

If you’re starting a business, rather than buying a new computer, and old one might be able to be refurbished with Linux. The computer (pictured above) works on 4GB of RAM.
